Ding Fan and Fang Jianping co-founded UDL in Beijing in 2012. Before that, they both studied Visual Communication at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
UDL is a multi-disciplinary design studio where Ding and Fang provide design services to clients from different fields — technology, finance, and consumer field — including Ant Group, OPPO, vivo, Vanke, ERDOS, Terminus Technology and 5Y Capital, etc.. While taking root in the commercial industry, Ding and Fang are also closely associated with the cultural field. Since 2015, they have been invited to design the Chinese New Year window display for the Empire State Building in New York; they are also art directors of the UCCA Gala charity dinner.
Guided by the two founding partners, the UDL design team find their way into both the classics and the future, and never slacken in their pursuit of professional excellence. Made up of curiosity, creativity, love, and skills, their designs are concise, clear, and contemporary. Their works have won many international design awards, including the Tokyo TDC, the Graphic Design in China (GDC), "The Most Beautiful Book in China", the Red Dot Award, the iF Design Award, and the Hong Kong Designers Association Global Design Competition among others.
In addition to being the founders of UDL, Ding and Fang are also AGI members and members of the Shenzhen Graphic Design Association. They have given speeches around the world and have been invited to speak at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts.
